Graffiti Anywhere vi permette di utilizzare il sistema di riconoscimento Graffiti ovunque sullo schermo.

Requisiti minimi di sistema: Palm OS 3.5 o successivi.

Come funziona

Attivare Graffiti Anywhere (usando uno dei 3 metodi descritti pi avanti in questo documento) e scrivete sullo schermo. Come nell'area Graffiti, scrivete le lettere sul lato sinistro e i numeri sul destro. Il pulsante di attivazione di default il pulsante Agenda. I possibili pulsanti di attivazione dipendono dal dispositivo che state usando. Sul Sony Clie e sui dispositivi Treo di Handspring potete usare il pulsante Jog. Su un TungstenT potete scegliere come pulsante di attivazione il pulsante VoiceMemo.

Toccando il pulsante 'Enable' attivate Graffiti Anwyhere.
Per spegnerlo toccate il pulsante 'Disable'.


Graffiti engine version

Graffiti Anywhere doesn't have its own recognition engine. Instead, it uses the one installed on the system. The Graffiti recognition engine varies depending on the version of PalmOS installed on your device.
If your device runs PalmOS 5.0 or older, the recognition engine of your device is Graffiti 1.
If it runs PalmOS 5.2 or newer, the recognition engine is Graffiti 2.

This link brings you to the Graffiti 2 char map. The main difference between Graffiti 1 and 2 is that with Graffiti 2, letters 'k', 't', 'x' and 'i' are obtained in 2 strokes.


The "dot" tap is replaced by a special stroke

Graffiti Anywhere replaces the single tap by a special stroke in order to allow you to use buttons and other objects on the application screen by simply tapping them. The special stroke is an oblique 45, bottom to top and right to left.

With Graffiti 1, the "dot" tap is used to switch to punctuation mode. It's also used to get the dot character (".") by doing it twice. It's the same with Graffiti Anywhere: You have to do the special stroke twice to obtain the dot character.

To stroke a "i" with Graffiti 2, you usually do a vertical down stroke then a dot above it. So, with Graffiti Anywhere, you have to do the vertical down stroke then the special stroke above it.


Descrizione delle Opzioni

Graphics options
  • Graffiti echo: Se selezionato, disegna il tratto sullo schermo.
  • Show starting dot: Se selezionato un punto disegnato dove comincia il tratto.
  • Wider line: Se selezionato il tratto disegnato sullo schermo pi spesso.
  • Draw separator: Se selezionato disegna una linea verticale per delimitare l'area delle letter da quella dei numeri.
  • Draw activation indicator: Disegna un piccolo indicatore visuale quando GA attivo. Potete scegliere la posizione e il colore.
  • Safe drawing method: Se selezionato, Graffiti Anywhere user un metodo pi lento per salvare il bitmap dello schermo. E' utile per alcuni dispositivi (come il Samsung I330) per cui i tratti non sono cancellati quando lo stilo alzato.
Activation options
  • Method: Vi permette di scegliere tra 4 metodi di attivazione:
    • Press and Hold: (premi e tieni premuto) Il pulsante di attivazione deve essere premuto e tenuto premuto per attivare la scrittura a tutto schermo.
    • Short press toggle on/off: (Breve pressione accende e spegne) Una breve pressione sul pulsante di attivazione accende o spegne la scrittura su tutto lo schermo. Una lunga pressione riattiva l'azione di default per quel pulsante.
    • Long press toggles on/off: (Lunga pressione accende o spegne) Una lunga pressione accende o spegne la scrittura a tutto schermo. Lo schermo lampeggia quando cambia lo stato. Una pressione breve del pulsante produce l'azione di default.
    • Tap screen corner: A tap in one of the 4 screen corners activate/deactivate GA.
    Nel modo acceso spento (toggle on/off), potete fare la selezione del testo (e qualsiasi altra selezione) esercitando un tocco pi lungo (es: non muovendo lo stilo per 250ms).
  • Button (Toggle mode only): Selezione quale pulsante attiva la scrittura a tutto schermo. Hard keys da1 a 4 sono i pulsanti del disposirivo (agenda, rubrica etc.).
  • Where and Size (Tap screen corner mode only): Selects which screen corner will bu used for activation/deactivation. The Size option represents the side length in pixels of the square area in the corner used for activation.

    • Se scegliete il metodo "Short or Long press toggle" o "Tap screen corner", queste altre opzioni possono essere applicate:
  • Single tap recoginition: I tocchi singoli sono sonsiderati come normali tocchi dello schermo e non come tocchi di graffiti. Quando selezionato potete entrare nel modo punteggiatura toccando una volta lo schermo. Altrimenti dovete fare un segno speciale che va da in basso a destra in alto a sinistra. Questo segno non deve essere molto lungo per essere riconosciuto (es: non lo dovete fare dall'angolo inferiore destro all'angolo superiore sinistro).   • Auto deactivation:
    • When exiting application: La scrittura a tutto schermo spenta quando si passa ad un'ltra applicazione.
    • Timeout: Spegne la scrittura a tutto schermo dopo che sono trascorsi un determinato numero di secodni senza che ci fosse scrittura sullo schermo.
Advanced options
  • Enable after reset: se scegliete 'Ask', vi verr chiesto di riattivare Graffiti Anywhere dopo un reset. Se scegliete 'Auto', sar riattivato automaticamente.
  • Disable during HotSync: Se selezionato, disabilita GA durante le operazioni di HotSync. N.B. questa opzione pu causare crash su dispositivi che montano un PalmOS precedente alla versione 5.
  • Enbale virtual silkscreen icons: If checked, adds a Launcher icon and a Find icon in the PalmOS command bar.
  • Enable CapsCrossing: Se selezionato, il segno che attraversa la separazione lettere/numeri scritto in maiuscolo automaticamente.
  • Disable field AutoShifting: Disabilita l'opzione percui la prima lettera di una frase scritta automaticamente in maiuscolo.
Applications Manager
Usate l'Applications Manager per configurare GA per ciascuna applicazione. Selezionate un'applicazione e selezionate uno dei tre pulsanti:
  • Enable: GA lavorer nel modo normale per quest'applicazione il che significa che dovete attivarlo manualmente premendo il pulsante di attivazione.
  • Disable: GA non sar attivabile quando state usando quest'applicazione. Una pressione sul pulsante di attivazione produce l'azione di default per quel pulsante.
  • Auto On: GA sar attivato automaticamente quando l'utente utilizza quest'applicazione. Questo utile per applicazioni come MemoPad per le quali avete sempre bisogno di GA per introdurre testo.
Istruzioni di installazione
  • Usate gli strumenti di installazione di Palm Desktop per caricare GrfAnywhere.prc
  • Lanciate GrfAnywhere
  • Selezionate il pulsante 'Enable'
  • Fatto.
Istruzioni di rimozione

Usare la voce Elimina del Menu App per rimuovere GrfAnywhere.prc dal vostro disopsitivo. Con alcuni programmi di gestione delle applicazioni di terze parti, prima dovete disabilitare Graffiti Anywhere.


Known issues
  • Dispositivi Treo 300: Il riconoscimento del modo punteggiatura non funziona quando attivo il modo "Press & Hold".
  • Conflict with TextPlus: TextPlus must be activated BEFORE Graffiti Anywhere to avoid the conflict.
  • Conflict with Palm keyboard driver. It seems that GA can't be used when the Palm keyboard driver is loaded.
  • Conflict with X-Master: For devices running PalmOS prior to 5.0, a reset may occur when the HotSync process starts. To avoid that, uncheck the "Disable during HotSync" option in BOTH GA and X-Master.
