RegEdit will be installed to \windows\start menu\programs\

Support:

As a registered user of this application you are entitled to lifelong free email support.

Navigating:

With RegEdit you navigate through the registry of your Palm PC in exactly the same way you navigate through your file system. Tap on a key in the top half of the screen to show its associated values in the bottom half of the screen. Double-tap on an item in the bottom half to edit it.

New Keys:

To create a new key beneath the key currently selected Edit->New Key.... Enter the new keys name into the dialog that comes up.

New String Values:

Select Edit->New Value->String... or tap the "ab"-Button on the toolbar to create a new string value for the currently selected key. You are prompted with a dialog in which you have to enter the new value's name and data.

If you want to create a multi string (thats a collection of strings, separated with '0'-characters and ending with a double '0'), check the box at the bottom of the dialog and separate your strings with '|'-characters. After you tap "OK" RegEdit will make any necessary conversions for you.

New DWORD Values:

Select Edit->New Value->DWORD... or tap the "D"-Button on the toolbar to create a new dword value for the currently selected key. You are prompted with a dialog in which you have to enter the new value's name and data.

Enter the data in decimal, not hexadecimal.

New Binary Values:

Select Edit->New Value->Binary... or tap the "01"-Button on the toolbar to create a new binary value for the currently selected key. You are prompted with a dialog in which you have to enter the new value's name and data.

You have to enter your data in hexadecimal pairs here. You may, for your convenience and readability separate the pairs with blanks. The small window on the right will display characters if you enter ASCII values or '.' if you enter non-ASCII values. It will display "<ERROR>" if you enter values that can't be interpreted as hex values.

Modifying Values:

You can modify values by selecting Edit->Value->Modify... or double-tapping the values in the list at the bottom half of your screen. Depending on the type of value selected, dialog boxes come up in which you can change the values at hand.

Deleting Items:

You can delete values and keys by selecting Edit->Delete or tapping the button with the red cross on it. You are then requested to confirm the delete. Note: Deletion is recursive, that is, if you delete a key, you will also delete everything that is beneath it, i.e. other values and keys. Use this function with great care!

Copying and Pasting Values:

Copying and pasting work as expected: Mark a value in the list in the bottom half of your screen and select Edit->Value->Copy. Mark the target key in the top half of the screen and select Edit->Value->Paste to add the value to the key selected.

Find Keys and Values:

This command makes it easy to locate keys and values in the registry. The registry can be quite confusing especially for beginners, this feature will help you to get to grips with it. Enter a search string (no wildcards allowed) in the dialog that comes up

If anything was found you are presented the results.

Double tap the entry you are interested in or select it and tap OK to locate it.

Options and stuff:

Use File->Options... to set some general options:

"Confirm deletion of keys or values". You can't undo this so perhaps you should leave it checked. Default: On.

"Allow deletion of values and keys". Tampering with the registry can seriously disturb your system up to a point where it won't run anymore. If you aren't absolutely sure what you are doing, don't do it.

Options are saved to the registry. (In which you should be able to change them by now...).

Use Edit->Rename to rename selected values.
