Introduction

Lunar helps you observe the Moon by showing you the phases, the position in its orbit around Earth, the distance from Earth, its age in the current lunation and the percentage of illumination. It also gives you the names of the prominent features on the face of the Moon and the major quarters in the current lunation. Lunar also allows you to add the major Moon phases to your Date Book.

The plug-in option allows you to install both the northern and southern hemisphere data files to match your location.

Lunar works on all grey scale and colour Palm OS devices with Palm OS 3.0 or greater.

In this screen you can see the Moon's distance from Earth, its age in the current lunation and the percentage of illumination. Watch how the Moon phases are created by the varying position of the Moon in its orbit around Earth.

In the full screen view you can tap on various prominent features and get their names at the bottom left of the screen.

The Phasescreen shows the dates and times of the quarter phases in the current lunation, starting with the last new Moon and ending with the following one.

The bar at the left indicates the current time in the lunation.
Tapping any of the phases' Moon icons takes you to that time and date in the previous display.

To step backwards or forwards through the lunations use the arrow buttons at the bottom of the widow. Alternatively you can use the hardware up or down key. The diamond button brings you back to the current date.

The 'Add the Date Book' screen allows you to enter the major Moon phases into the Date Book of your palm OS device. You can choose to have the phases entered as untimed or timed events for the particular days in the selected date interval.

Users of DateBk3/4/5 (click here for more information) or ActionNames can choose to assign a category and icons to the Lunar events being entered into the Date Book.

Tapping the info (i) button in either screens you get an informational text about the Moon, including its statistics.
