Introduction

Featuring all the fun and madness found in the online gaming favourite from PopCap. Zuma features colourful graphics that reflect the ancient South American civilizations and is accompanied by a panpipe music soundtrack and chanted sound effects to give a Zumaic flavour.

Match sets of three or more coloured balls by firing them from the mouth of the mythical stone frog toward the advancing line of balls. Seek out the bonus balls which cause explosions, line reversal, and slow-downs to help you achieve Zuma and complete the levels.

How To Install

Use an extractor program such as WinZip or Stuffit Expander to get at the Zuma files.

Install the game by double-clicking the .prc file, which opens the Palm Install Tool or Quick Install program.

If music is available, users with Palm OS® 5 devices may wish to install it as well. Double click on the .pdb file (or files, if there are more than one) to install it in the same way as installing the .prc file. Please note that not all Palm OS® 5 handhelds support music; for more information please refer to our knowledgebase here.

Use the HotSync button as usual to install the game onto your handheld. If you have a handheld with an expansion card, you can then move the game over to it. Do this before you register the game!

Now run Zuma and tap the screen to play the game!

If you've got any queries about Zuma or the registration process, first check out our knowledge base on our website (you must be connected to the internet to access this). If this doesn't help, get in touch with us at support@astraware.com. If you've got any questions (or suggestions, we love those) about the game itself, please get in touch with us at the email address at the top of this page.

How to Play

The goal in Zuma is to fire balls from the rotating stone frog in the centre to make groups of 3 or more balls of the same colour. Doing so removes those balls from the line. The ultimate goal of each level is to remove all the balls before they reach the skull pit.

You can fire the ball currently in the frog's mouth by tapping anywhere on the screen. This will fire the ball at the place you tapped. You can also drag the stylus on the screen to aim the frog, and the ball will fire when you lift the stylus.

You can see the colour of the next ball that you will get by looking at the top of the frogs head. You may also switch the ball currently in the frog's mouth with this one by tapping on the frog's head.

Removing balls from the middle of a moving line will stop the ones in front of that point from moving for a while, while the balls behind them catch up. If the ball colours on separated ends of a chain match, then the front set of balls will roll backwards to meet the others. This can also create matches (called combo matches).

As you make matches, the yellow progress bar at the top will fill - making matches with more balls, or creating combos, will fill this bar faster! Once this bar is full, no new balls will be generated, so all you need to do is clear the remaining balls from the level before they fall into the pit.

Hints and Tips

Make combos! Balls of the same colour will attract each other, so if there is a gap with balls of the same colour at each end, the forward set of balls will roll backwards to meet up. This can help pull balls away from the skull pit, but can also result in a combo. You get lots of extra points for a combo match, and even more if you get multiple combo matches!

Coins occasionally appear in the corners of the level - fire a ball at it to pick it up. Coins give a bonus to your score, and also help you greatly towards reaching Zuma!

Some balls will display an icon indicating that they "hold" special ability. To get that ability, you need to remove that ball by matching it in the normal way.

Special ball abilities include:

Registering

Whenever possible, you should purchase your software from the portal where you initially found and downloaded it! This means that the portal can take a commission on the sale which they use to keep running and keep providing the listing and download service. Without your support these portals can not continue to operate!
They will pass the details straight back to Astraware to fulfil your order just as quickly as if you'd ordered directly from Astraware's own web shop.

In Demo form, you can play 5 games of Zuma for free, as you decide whether you like it or not. After these games are up, the program will display a short message reminding you to register each time you play!

If you beam a demo to someone else, and they also like the game, then they can register it either by purchasing a copy from a local store or by purchasing online.

Registering Online:

For those that like the speed and convenience of buying via the internet, you can register online to get a code which will unlock the game and remain valid for future upgrades. Go to the web page at http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=88707 for more details.

You'll need to know your HotSync ID which you can find by running Zuma, opening the menus, and selecting the 'Register...' option. Your HotSync ID will be filled in for you below.

When you register, Astraware will generate a key based on your ID, which will normally be sent out by email within 48 hours of registering. When you receive your key, go to the same register option described above, and enter the key into the space provided.
